More Stats on the AFI List

Because I am a stats geek at heart, here are some facts about the previously mentioned list:

Number of Movies Listed
91

Average Year of Song
1964

Number of Songs By Decade
1930s - 11
1940s - 14
1950s - 17
1960s - 20
1970s - 16
1980s - 13
1990s - 6
2000s - 3

Most Songs Listed From A Movie
1952 Singin' In The Rain - 3
1961 West Side Story - 3
1965 Sound Of Music - 3
1939 Wizard Of Oz - 2
1944 Meet Me In St. Louis - 2
1968 Funny Girl - 2

It's interesting to note the classic bell curve distribution of movies songs by decade. The multiple songs from several movies in the 60s (8 songs) really helped pad the middle. It should also be noted that the average year of the song fits right into that section. I wish Hollywood would go back to making big musical productions, but I understand why they don't - it's too much money invested on something that has a high probability of little return in this current age.

Oh, and "From Justin to Kelly" is not a musical film. It's a piece of crap that the American Idol folks tried to push on us.
