Amendment 1

Vote No on Amendment 1.
Why?

Because it is a big crock of pooey that a big business man is trying to sell as a community wanting a boat. Not to mention the fact that the campaign to promote the Ammendment is full of lies and false representations. Oh, and all of that money towards education? Dream on!

Casino boats do little to invigorate an economy. The truth is they drain the momey out of the local residents and give little back. The majority of the money that is stolen from the local people is then whisked away to an out of state account, where it has no impact on the surrounding community.

I recall that the big selling point for the local boats was money for education. There is still a billboard up on I-70 promoting this idea. If boats raise so much money for education, then why have we had such a tough budget situation in this area lately? The truth is that only a fraction of the budget for education comes from the riverboat gambling revenues.

The facts prove that casinos (in any form that they might exist) cause more harm than good on a local community. Crime rates go up, taxes usually follow and other industries leave.

The solution for Rockaway Beach is not a riverboat casino.
It never has been and never will be.
Anyone who tells you differently is selling something - and it's a bag of crap.
