Mardi Gras

From this article in the Post-Dispatch:
"There are limits, but for this one day in this one neighborhood, hedonism is unleashed." Credit history and pragmatism for the 24-hour free pass. For generations, Christians indulged in their vices one last time before the holy season of Lent.

As seen on a billboard along I-70: "Last Call Before Lent: Mardi Gras" or something like that...

If someone can explain to me how this event is a part of living a Christian life, I would love to hear it. I'm not against having a good time, parades, silly games, dressing in a strange fashion or anything like that. What does bother me is that hundreds of thousands of people around the world who claim the name of Christ actively participate in exposing their breasts for beads, becoming drunk on alcoholic products and urinating in public - just to name a few of the possible options this coming weekend.

Now I have a plank in my eye, and would love having help to remove it, but if you will allow me to help you with the speck in your eye, perhaps together we can actually make a difference in this world.
