Palestinian Powder Keg

Things in the Middle East just got really interesting. Now I am not saying that things over there weren't interesting before, but for those of you who have not ever really paid attention to what is happening over there, now is the time to start. With election results still not being officially confirmed, it would appear that the violent Hamas party has taken control of the Palestinian government.

So why does this matter?

Well, any and all talks of Palestine peacefully coexisting with Israel have been put on hold indefinitely. The Hamas party has promoted blatent violence toward Israel for years and more than likely won't stop now. Sure they may come around to the polical correct stanpoint of not verbally saying what they want to happen, but I doubt that Palestine would object if Iran lobbed a couple of warheads into Israel. In fact, I would anticipate that the Hamas party would help point those weapons to more accurate positions.

This could, in fact, turn even more nations against Israel. With an Islmaic group at the helm of Palestine, other countries may decide that now is the time to step up their efforts to eliminate the Jewish nation from the face of the earth. Is it so hard to believe that nations with predominantly Islamic populations might join such a Holy War to rid the Jews from the land?

There are a lot of possibilities in this region, but I dare say that an effective peace agreement is one of them...
