Terry Schiavo

Everybody has been talking about this case in one way or another and it has been all over the news. So here is my take.

While courts are hearing the case and trying to determine the case, put the feeding tube back in. What's a matter of days or a week to wait and pull it back out again if the court rules against the parents? It's nothing. It seems to me that there is an urgency to get this woman to die that goes beyond anything medical. Why is Michael Schiavo doing everything he can to remove the tube from her as quickly as possible? What's his hurry? What does he have to gain by her dying? Perhaps more importantly, what does he have to lose if she lives? Could it be that there are things he doesn't want the world to hear from Terry?

In fact, the Florida Division of Children and Families has reported 30 instances of neglect or abuse charges against Michael Schiavo and one of their neurologists, Dr. William Polk Cheshire, has stated that there is evidence and information "that seriously challenges the diagnosis that Mrs. Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state". In fact, 14 independent medical professionals (6 of them neurologists) have given either statements or testimony that Terry is NOT in a Persistent Vegetative State. So let's feed the woman until this evidence is reviewed by a panel of doctors and then decide the outcome.

It is my belief that Michael Schiavo has ulterior motives in this case and should not be trusted. Her parents have said that they would take care of her the rest of her life and take on on bills associated with her care. Why not let them?

Terry received 1.4 million dollars in a malpractice suit in November of 1992. Ever since that moment, Michael Schiavo has denied to provide the rehabilitation that was recommended by the doctors, and has actually gone out of his way to deny her any sort of rehabilitation or therapy. Why?

For me it seems that there is overwhelming evidence that Terry Schiavo has been denied her rights as a patient to recover, due to her husband's desire to see her die. Basically every step he has taken since the settlement has been to deprive Terry of the care that she needs and has been referred to receive. Everything he has done seems to point to an overwhelming desire to see Terry die.

Put the feeding tube back in and sort through all of the medical files. Have Terry reviewed by a panel of totally independent doctors. If they determine that she is in a Totally Vegetative State, then let her parents care for her the rest of her day. Give Michael Schiavo a divorce settlement that includes any bills currently associated with her medical care to be owed by her parents.

What would it hurt to let her live with her parents? Michael Schiavo would be free to live as he wants and would never feel obligated to Terry ever again. Both parties would apparently be satisfied with that situation except for the fact that Michael won't ever allow his wife to live in any state, whether it be vegetative or otherwise. He is hiding something or simply trying to cash in on the death of his wife.

Michael Schiavo does not love his wife.

Feed Terry.
Free Terry from Michael.
See how Terry improves with the care that has always been recommended.
Then charge Michael with attempted murder, neglect, conspiracy and everything else that you can throw at him. If convicted, he should be starved to death like he is trying to do to Terry.

I agree with this statement regarding the Terry Schiavo situation.
