A local professor decided to use his platform at a local university (UMSL) to speak on the status of our society. I think this is a great idea, and what better place to do it than at a place designated to higher learning? A community of which he himself is one of the many educators...
Dr. Dyson, professor of African-American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania was quoted in this article as saying the following:
"I can understand getting your pimp on as a metaphoric intensity of blackness trying to scheme on through the game and the hustle, but he done took that stuff a little too seriously."
How can anyone else in the crowd take you seriously as a professor, as an educator, when you cannot even correctly use grammar to express yourself? Much of this article surrounding this man has left me with the distinct impression that he is out to make a name for himself - even at the cost of his own dignity.
He proclaimed ignorance loud and clear for all to hear, but I am not sure it was the ignorance of our society that was most prominantly displayed. Maybe if he would go back for one more degree he would be able to speak in a manner that displays his intelligence more effectively... Maybe...
